Eardley
These are some photos from a trip that some friends and I took recently to Southern Utah. This particular canyon was called Zero Gravity and because it was a wet canyon I was using an Olympus Tough point and shoot camera. A little less than ideal for getting beatiful photos, but perfect for not having to worry about getting sand and water in an SLR camera body. Even so, I managed to pull a few good shots out of it.
This was definitely one of the funnest trips to date in my long list of adventures. I would say this was because of the incredible group dynamic that developed between everybody that came. We had Jared Carney, Madison Hall, Sam Peters, Mike Engel, and Eden Atkinson who all decided that sitting at home on a beautiful weekend blows.
It really was amazing how this trip ended up going. First of all, the day we were going to leave we had four confirmed adventurers for sure. All the guys. Then Madison decided she was coming and at the extreme very last second Eden made a last ditch effort to get from Boise to Pocatello so we could pick her up and head straight to Utah! We arrived late that night at the trailhead to Leprechaun Canyon (Below) and camped the first night out under the stars. I really regretted not bringing my SLR because it was a beautiful night to get star shots.

We arrived at the trailhead to Eardley and Zero Gravity later that day to find that the road had been washed out by flash floods and we were the second car in there. We ended up pushing farther than the car before us had so we could camp at the actual trailhead to Eardley. ( Zero G is just down the road from it.) We set out for an incredible adventure in Zero G that afternoon then set up camp and relaxed. We were the second group to descend Zero G after it had flashed, which made the water portions absolutely fantastic!
This is just after popping out of the Birth Canal in Zero G.
This was the small group of us that felt ambitious enough to attack Eardley the next day. We discovered that we were the first to descend this canyon after it had flashed which made for an interesting discovery at the end! A rope which I had lost in a pot hole about three months earlier in my Canyoneering class for school. My professor will be happy to have his rope back.
We stayed the night once more this time moving our camp to a more shaded location down by the dried up stream bed. We had chili and salsa and chips that night for dinner thus solidifying the name of our trip 'The Let 'Er Rip Canyoneering Trip!' We then decided to attack Zero G once more the next day before we left for home ending our trip on a high note because we all loved this canyon so much!
This was an incredible trip and it all made possible by the amazing people who decided that they could sacrifice a little time off work to make it happen. Good choice people... shyeah... no kiddin... gyuhh huhhh....
